As a young lad, I played soccer every year from the time I was in kindergarten to about 6th grade (when finally, I was able to switch over to flag football at the grade school I attended). Seems like certificates for participating are more the fashion these days, but back in the ’80s, after the season ended there was an awards ceremony — and at those ceremonies they handed out trophies! Now, for some particular reason, my father really liked it when anyone in the family (including himself) got a trophy — kind of a “bring honor to the family” type deal. With 11 brothers and sisters, the competition was heavy and you needed to do what took to make it happen.
Well, at this year’s San Diego Chapter CPCU Society All Industry Day, I was able to bring some “honor” home as I was presented with this snazzy plaque by The San Diego CPCU Society Chapter President — Janice Romero — for my contributions.
The inscription on the plaque reads as follows: Chapter Volunteer Leadership Award, CPCU Society, Excellent Service 2010 – 2013, Patrick McKenna, CPCU.
What an honor indeed. And what a great insurance industry organization to belong to! My time as Board Member and Committee Chair Webmaster was a great experience. A BIG thanks to all of the board members for making this happen!
